'Not My Job,' Ja'Marr Chase Suggests Asking Bengals HC About How to Fix Slow Starts
Ja'Marr Chase is staying in his lane.
The superstar wideout was asked after Sunday's 43-36 overtime win against the Tennessee Titans about the Cincinnati Bengals' slow starts and how they could fix them. He instead directed reporters to ask head coach Zac Taylor about the issue:
The Bengals found themselves trailing 13-0 after the first quarter (though they quickly recovered, taking a 14-13 lead into the half).
Last week the team was down 13-0 at the half against the Baltimore Ravens before exploding in the second half during a 35-13 win, fueled by a fiery halftime speech from Chase.
"I came in here screaming, saying, 'Somebody's got to make a play for us, somebody got to make a play,'" the star wideout told reporters about that moment. "And I told our offense [that] we can't look at our defense the whole time. We've got to step this s--t up and make something work."
Chase also got heated on the sidelines during Sunday's win:
The Bengals are now 5-2, which makes some of these rough patches easier to smooth over. But they aren't exactly making life easy on themselves at the moment.
