Week 9 Waiver Wire Breakout Fantasy Football Pickups from Sunday's Box Scores

Erik BeastonNov 1, 2026

One of the most important elements of any successful fantasy team is its manager's ability to recognize waiver wire pickups that can help bolster their roster and contribute in meaningful ways when it matters most.

On the heels of Week 8, there are three players who bear watching as potential game-changing additions.

Find out who they are in this preview of the upcoming week in fantasy football.

Makai Lemon, WR, Philadelphia Eagles

The rookie wide receiver from USC has quickly become No. 1 on the Eagles' depth chart, thanks to injuries up and down the roster, none bigger than that suffered by DeVonta Smith.

The first-year player has been the target of at least six targets in each of his last four games and is coming off the best game of his young career.

Against Dallas in Week 7, Lemon caught 7 of 8 passes for 67 yards and a touchdown.

It remains to be seen what Week 8 against Washington holds on Sunday night, but Lemon has quickly become a key cog in the Philly offense and a trusted target of quarterback Tanner McKee.

The lack of other proven targets, and the growing trust between him and his young quarterback, should be encouraging to Eagles fans and worth keeping an eye on for fantasy managers.

Those in need of receiver depth should grab and stash him now before his production keeps up and he becomes a hotter commodity in fantasy.

Lemon is available in approximately 38 percent of leagues, per FantasyPros.com.

Tyler Allgeier, RB, Arizona Cardinals

As he has throughout his career, when given a chance to shine, Tyler Allgeier does just that.

The veteran back had his best game of the season Sunday against Dallas, tallying 11 touches and 147 yards. He scored both a rushing and a receiving touchdown and ranked first at his position through the first half of the afternoon slate, per FantasyPros.com.

He was a major contributor to the Cardinals' offense in Week 8, so expect to see him get his touches again in Week 9 as Arizona looks to build on its momentum.

The 26-year-old back is available in 47 percent of leagues and has proven to be an effective fantasy back during his time in Atlanta. He is worth stashing at the very least.

Ryan Flournoy, WR, Dallas Cowboys

The 27-year-old from Southeast Missouri State has scored twice in his last three games.

Against Green Bay in Week 6, he caught seven balls on nine targets for 40 yards and a touchdown. Two weeks later, in an overtime loss against Arizona, he tallied three catches on four targets for 38 yards and another score.

He has finished with double-digit fantasy points in three of his last four games and is quickly finding himself an important part of the Cowboys' offense.

A member of a high-scoring offense, Flournoy is an intriguing fantasy option and someone who should be on far more rosters than the 31 percent that he is, according to FantasyPros.

He is a worthwhile grab-and-stash for those managers looking to deepen their receiver and FLEX rosters.
