The Vikings opened the game by driving down to the Lions' 38-yard line, although a 57-yard field goal attempt was unsuccessful.

Both teams traded punts on the next two possessions of the contest before Detroit was able to get on the board first, as Jake Bates connected on a 25-yard field goal.

Minnesota immediately responded with a seven-play, 74-yard drive that ended with an incredible touchdown reception by Justin Jefferson.

Neither squad was able to find much success offensively for the remainder of the second half, as the next six combined drives following Jefferson's touchdown grab resulted in four total punts and two interceptions.

The Lions eventually gained some momentum heading into halftime, as Bates nailed a 37-yard field goal just before the second quarter came to a close.

Minnesota led 7-6 at the half.

Bates missed a 46-yard field goal attempt on Detroit's first possession of the third quarter, but the Lions' defense was able to force a Vikings punt immediately afterwards.

On Detroit's next drive, Jahmyr Gibbs ran 30 yards into the end zone to give his squad a 12-7 lead.

The back-and-forth affair continued early in the fourth quarter, as T.J. Hockenson reeled in an eight-yard touchdown catch to put Minnesota back in front.

The Vikings' lead was short-lived, as Detroit quickly drove down the field before Goff connected with Jameson Williams for a seven-yard score.

Minnesota wasn't able to move the sticks on its next possession and punted the ball away with three minutes left in the fourth quarter.

The Vikings' defense couldn't hold Detroit, as the Lions picked up three first downs on their final drive to run out the clock and seal the win.

Detroit improved to 5-2, while Minnesota fell to 6-1.
