New Breece Hall Trade Rumors on Jets' Stance amid Braelon Allen's Emergence Ahead of NFL Deadline

A trade involving New York Jets running back Breece Hall "seems unlikely," according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.

Braelon Allen has run for 357 yards and one touchdown over the past four weeks, leading some fans to wonder whether New York trading Hall is a possibility.

Cimini reported the team is happy to keep both Allen and Hall: "The Jets believe that they have the NFL's best 1-2 punch, and they don't want to break it up. Even if they wanted to move him, Hall's recent injuries may give teams pause. He has missed four games because of a quadriceps injury after missing a chunk of training camp because of a strained groin."

The Jets wouldn't be selling high on Hall if they decided on this course of action. In addition to his injuries, the 25-year-old combined to run for 61 yards in the two weeks after his 102-yard showing in a 23-10 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Given the state of the passing game, having Hall and Allen together in 2027 would provide a solid foundation for the offense.

Geno Smith is a stopgap under center, and it feels inevitable that the Jets will invest valuable draft capital in the quarterback position next spring. Miami's Darian Mensah was the pick in Bleacher Report's most recent mock.

Being able to pose a consistent threat on the ground will ease some of the pressure on the heir apparent, whoever it is.

Not to mention, the general excitement around Allen is based around a small sample. He had 410 combined rushing yards through his first two seasons in the league.

One risk to trading Hall is that Allen could regress in the second half, thus lowering the confidence level in the latter as a No. 1 option on his own.

Maybe a rival team loves Hall enough to table a massive offer, one New York can't turn down. Absent that, moving him shouldn't merit a lot of consideration.
