WWE's Top Tweets, Instagram Photos and Viral Videos for Week of August 17
The buzz created by WWE's preparations for SummerSlam led to an odd, entertaining assortment of social media tidbits.
Brock Lesnar's trip to ESPN headquarters resulted in a viral video starring NFL Hall of Famer Cris Carter and others. John Cena got all dressed up for SummerSlam weekend, The Prime Time Players hung with an award-winning rapper and YouTube helped fans recall the marquee pay-per-view's biggest moments.
We begin with some random violence. In something one would expect WWE to release near TLC time, the company compiled a collection of spots featuring wrestlers crashing through stacked tables.

Edge, Undertaker and Seth Rollins all soared straight into wood in this highlight-heavy clip:
In what is a far less painful part of being a WWE Superstar, the tag team champs attended a WWE 2K16 event as we get closer to the big summertime PPV. Titus O'Neil and Darren Young had a funny exchange with rapper Fabulous.
WWE's Twitter account let us see what Fabulous would look like as a tag champ:
Young also made waves on Twitter. After David Denson, a slugger in the Milwaukee Brewers minor league system, made history by becoming the first active player in a Major League Baseball affiliate to come out as gay, Young made his voice heard as well.
Addressing those who underestimate what gay athletes go through by revealing themselves in that way, Young fired off some poignant tweets:
And while Young and O'Neil were rubbing elbows with Fabulous, Lesnar spent the buildup to SummerSlam appearing on ESPN's SportsCenter. It's rare for a WWE star to be invited on the show, and this served as a major chance to attract some new eyes to the product.
Via Instagram, WWE shared a glimpse of The Beast Incarnate on the SportsCenter set:
ESPN got their money's worth when Lesnar came around. He didn't just talk SummerSlam; he worked as a security guard. This video of him trying to blend into this role is one well worth sharing:
Lesnar is also the star of WWE's latest countdown video. Rather than go with the standard top 10, the company opted to cram 20 of SummerSlam's biggest moments into one clip.
The Beast Incarnate pops up twice, and three memorable Intercontinental Championship changes also made the cut:
Cena showed us that Lesnar is not the only one who can promote SummerSlam by way of a wardrobe change. Rather than don a security guard uniform, though, Cena went in a stranger direction.
Before his appearance on Late Night with Seth Myers, WWE snapped an Instagram photo of Cena in an outfit much like what The Rock wore in The Tooth Fairy:
If that feels a bit random, Finn Balor has it beat by a mile.
With no clear context, the NXT champion decided to superimpose himself, Triple H and his opponent at TakeOver: Brooklyn into a classics '80s movie. He tweeted what an NXT version of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial would look like:
Balor will be looking for a happy ending as he battles Owens in a ladder match on Saturday. It will then be time for Lesnar to ditch the security uniform and for Cena to trade in his tutu for his trademark cargo shorts. It will finally be SummerSlam time.
