Cardinals' Budda Baker Wears Halloween Mask to Press Conference, Addresses NFL Trade Rumors in Video
Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker was very much in the Halloween spirit during his media availability on Friday.
While discussing multiple subjects, including the Cardinals' road game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Baker wore a scary clown mask:
Baker even talked about the possibility of getting dealt ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline, saying, "I just live in the present, like today having a great time with you guys. Gonna have a great Friday practice and just focus on playing against the Dallas Cowboys, and trying to get a W at their stadium."
Given the fact that the Cards have only reached the playoffs once during Baker's 10-year run with the organization, he has often been the subject of trade rumors and speculation.
That continues to be the case this season, as ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported this week that Baker is expected to generate "strong interest" if made available. Fowler added that sources he has spoken to believe Arizona should "try to get something" for the 30-year-old veteran.
Baker has not asked to be traded, though, as he told ESPN's Josh Weinfuss this week that he hasn't asked general manager Monti Ossenfort "about anything."
That doesn't guarantee that the Cardinals won't look to move Baker, though, especially since he is only signed through 2027.
At 2-5, Arizona is not looking like a playoff contender this season, and it may be a while before the team is back in the mix.
By the time that happens, Baker may be past his prime or already moved on to a different team via free agency.
Baker is an eight-time Pro Bowler and two-time First Team All-Pro with 1,065 tackles, 13.5 sacks and nine interceptions in 145 career games.
There is little doubt that contending teams would love to get their hands on Baker if possible, and if the Cards continue to lose, that could potentially become a reality by the Nov. 10 trade deadline.
