New Patriots Rumors Update Christian Barmore's Availability at NFL Trade Deadline

Paul KasabianOct 30, 2026

New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore is reportedly available as the Nov. 10 trade deadline nears, per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.

"The Patriots are deep in the AFC race, but veteran DT Christian Barmore could be had, having played only 41.9 percent of the team's defensive snaps, falling behind Milton Williams and Cory Durden in the team's rotation."

New England selected Barmore with a second round pick (No. 38 overall) in the 2021 NFL draft. He's played 71 games (28 starts) over five-plus seasons. Barmore's best season was 2023, when the former Alabama star amassed 8.5 sacks, 64 tackles (39 solo) and 16 quarterback hits.

In April 2024, Barmore signed a four-year, $84 million contract extension, per Over the Cap.

Unfortunately, Barmore was diagnosed with blood clots in July 2024, and he ultimately played just four games the following season.

He returned to the field in 2025 and became a full-time starter for the first time in his career. Over 17 games (16 starts), Barmore had 29 tackles, 11 quarterback hits and two sacks.

Barmore has been productive getting to the quarterback through six games (three sacks). Pats analyst Carlos A. Lopez spoke more on his pass-rushing skills.

However, Barmore has seen his playing time dip down from 65 percent of the defensive snaps in 2025, per Pro Football Reference. He has started just one of six games.

Head coach Mike Vrabel was asked about that in a recent press conference.

We'll see if Barmore sticks around with the Pats after the Nov. 10 trade deadline, but in the meantime, New England is visiting Miami to play the Dolphins on Sunday, Nov. 1.
