Micah Parsons Injury Return Timeline in New NFL Rumors amid Packers' 'Cautious' Game Plan

Paul KasabianOct 29, 2026

Green Bay Packers edge-rusher Micah Parsons, who has been out since suffering a torn left ACL and meniscus last December, is expected back at practice next week, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

As noted by ESPN's Rob Demovsky, reporters have asked Packers head coach Matt LaFleur about Parsons' expected to return to practice on a weekly basis and gotten a "quick and hard no" in response.

However, LaFleur said "I sure hope so" when asked Tuesday whether Parsons could be back on the practice field next week.

Parsons is currently on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. Once he returns to practice, a 21-day window would open. By the time that three-week period ends, the Packers can either activate Parsons to their 53-man roster or shut him down for 2026. One can safely guess the Packers would activate Parsons in short order.

Parsons joined the Packers via trade from the Dallas Cowboys right before the 2025 season. He amassed 12.5 sacks and 27 quarterback hits in 14 contests before suffering the aforementioned knee injuries in a game against the Denver Broncos.

Parsons is a three-time First Team All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowler who stands as one of the NFL's best defensive players this decade, and the Packers should be in the playoff race all year. Needless to say, his return is important as Green Bay hopes to make a deep postseason run.

Looking ahead, the Packers visit the New England Patriots on Sunday, Nov. 8 and host the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Nov. 15 before hitting the bye. Green Bay, in theory, could ramp up Parsons for two weeks of practice before the bye and then activate him before a Nov. 25 matchup at the Los Angeles Rams.

We'll see what happens soon enough, but the optimism surrounding Parsons is great news.
