New Colts Trade Rumors Reveal 1 Player Off-Limits in Talks Despite NFL Interest During Fire Sale
The Indianapolis Colts have wasted no time making trades ahead of the NFL's Nov. 10 deadline, but there is reportedly one player they will not move.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Thursday that Indianapolis has no plans on trading defensive tackle Adetomiwa Adebawore and "sees him as a big part of the picture moving forward."
While Garafolo previously reported Adebawore would generate interest if he was made available, he noted the Colts will "surely" look to extend his deal at this point before he becomes a free agent during the upcoming offseason.
Even if Indianapolis plans on holding onto Adebawore, the AFC South team has been at the center of the NFL world leading up to the trade deadline.
It already moved defensive lineman DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers and offensive lineman Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks. What's more, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported wide receiver Josh Downs requested a trade.
That's not even getting into running back Jonathan Taylor, who did not request a trade but has been speculated about leading up to the deadline.
He even admitted he knows he doesn't fully control his future:
One thing is clear. It appears the Colts are staring at a rebuilding process after making two notable moves with more potentially to come. That will make their young players and draft capital all the more important, so perhaps it shouldn't come as a surprise they want to keep Adebawore.
After all, he is just 25 years old and will likely have an even bigger role now that Buckner is no longer on the defensive line.
The 2023 fourth-round pick has four sacks in seven games this season, which is already tied for his career high. He also has 17 total tackles and three tackles for loss to go along with eight quarterback hits.
He appears to have turned the corner this season and will now have even more opportunity following the Buckner trade. If he takes advantage of those chances, there could be quite the contract waiting for him.
