Khalil Mack's Top Trade Landing Spots After Jeffery Simmons to Bears Ahead of NFL Deadline

Mike ChiariOct 29, 2026

As big names continue to fly off the board ahead of the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline, Los Angeles Chargers pass-rusher Khalil Mack remains among the top players who could be available.

One team thought to be a suitor for Mack is the Chicago Bears, but they made a blockbuster deal on Thursday, agreeing to send first-round picks in 2027 and 2028, plus a 2027 fourth-rounder to the Tennessee Titans for defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons and a 2028 fifth-round pick, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Simmons trade came two days after the Indianapolis Colts dealt defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers.

With the Chargers sitting at 0-6, a Mack trade seems like a strong possibility, and he should garner plenty of interest now that some of the other top trade targets are off the board.

Here is a look at three teams that could make a strong push for Mack ahead of the deadline.

Chicago Bears

Despite the acquisition of Simmons, the Bears may not necessarily be out of the running for Mack.

Last weekend, NFL insider Jay Glazer appeared on Fox NFL Sunday (h/t SI.com's Mike Moraitis) and said the Bears had contacted the Chargers to inquire about Mack.

Glazer added that he expected the Bears to be "really aggressive when it comes to the trade deadline."

Although they traded a lot of draft capital for Simmons, the Bears still have their second- and third-round picks in the 2027 NFL draft, as well as the Atlanta Falcons' fifth-rounder.

On top of that, Mack is already quite familiar with Chicago, having played for the Bears from 2018 to 2021. During that time, he was a three-time Pro Bowler and one-time First Team All-Pro.

The Bears are known for their offense, but adding Mack alongside another defensive difference-maker in Simmons would make them one of the most complete teams in the NFC.

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are arguably the worst defensive team in the NFL, but they are Super Bowl contenders nonetheless thanks to quarterback Josh Allen, running back James Cook and the offense.

Buffalo ranks 31st in the NFL in total defense and 30th in scoring defense, as well as tied for 22nd in sacks.

While an edge rusher doesn't seem like the biggest need on the Bills' defense with Greg Rousseau and Bradley Chubb in starting roles, adding a veteran like Mack—who has three sacks in six games this season—wouldn't hurt.

Mack has been linked to the Bills at various times over the years, but Buffalo was never able to acquire or sign him.

The speculation was likely born partially from the fact that Mack played his college football at the University at Buffalo where he established himself as arguably the greatest player in the history of the program.

Although they are tied with the Kansas City Chiefs for the best record in the AFC, there is little doubt that the Bills need to make a move or two on defense to bolster their Super Bowl chances, and adding Mack would likely help in a significant way.

Kansas City Chiefs

Just as it has so many times in recent years, the battle for AFC supremacy this season could come down to the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills.

With that in mind, acquiring Mack would serve two purposes for the Chiefs, as it would help their defense, while also blocking the Bills from making a move to improve their defense.

The Chiefs have the No. 2 scoring defense in the NFL this season, allowing just 17.2 points per game, but they haven't put much heat on the quarterback.

Their eight sacks are tied for the second-fewest in the league, and they don't have any players on the roster with more than one sack.

Starting edge rushers George Karlaftis and Felix Anudike-Uzomah have combined for just two sacks, which is nowhere near good enough for a Super Bowl contender.

Mack would instantly become the Chiefs' best pass-rusher, and he would give opposing offenses someone they have to game plan for.
