William Contreras was named MVP of the 2026 World Series as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays with a 4-1 victory in Game 5 on Wednesday night.

With the win, the Brewers captured their first World Series title in franchise history.

Contreras was impressive throughout the Fall Classic, hitting .381 with an OPS of .864 during the series. He picked up four RBI in five games.

The 28-year-old earned World Series MVP honors over Cooper Pratt, who slashed .421/.455/.684 against Tampa Bay.

Pratt was particularly stellar at the plate throughout the final two games of the series, putting together a streak of six consecutive at-bats with a hit.

The award ultimately went to Contreras, who also made his presence felt defensively as Milwaukee took down Tampa Bay.

The Rays led the American League with 164 stolen bases in the regular season, but struggled against Contreras. He caught them stealing four times in nine attempts during the World Series.

He was also sharp behind the plate, winning 10 of his 13 Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) challenges (h/t Johnny Flores Jr. of The Athletic).

Contreras has served as a crucial piece of Milwaukee's lineup throughout his four years with the organization, earning two of his three All-Star nods as a member of the Brewers.

During the 2026 regular season, he hit .270 while racking up 18 home runs, 27 doubles and 94 RBI. Contreras stepped up for Milwaukee in the playoffs, recording three homers and nine RBI to go along with a 1.036 OPS in 13 games.

Now, he can add World Series MVP to his résumé.
