Jets CB Talks Potential Trade Request, 'Definitely Frustrated' with Role After New Contract
New York Jets cornerback Nahshon Wright revealed that he's "definitely frustrated" with his role on the team's defense despite not officially requesting a trade yet, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.
"Not formally...(But) I've expressed my feelings (to the team)," Wright said, per Cimini.
He signed a fully guaranteed one-year contract worth $3.5 million with the Jets in May, but has primarily operated as a depth option this season.

"I'm open to anything at this point," Wright said, per Cimini. "I just want to go where I can play, whether it's here or somewhere else. I just want to contribute. I know what I can do and I think I put that on display [last season]. So, yeah, it's definitely frustrating."
Wright spent the 2025 season with the Chicago Bears, starting in 16 of his 17 games played.
He served as an important piece of Chicago's secondary by racking up 80 tackles, 11 passes defended, three tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. Wright's five interceptions were tied for the second-most in the NFL.
He earned the first Pro Bowl nod of his career for his efforts.
This year, Wright missed time in training camp due to a hip injury before losing a positional battle with Azareye'h Thomas.
Wright has appeared in just three of New York's first seven games as a result. He has yet to take the field on defense, as all 22 of his snaps have come on special teams (via Pro Football Reference).
It's worth noting that the Jets have the NFL's No. 13 scoring defense by allowing a modest 21.4 points per game, but they still own a mere 2-5 record through seven weeks.
If Wright still can't find his way onto the field moving forward, he could choose to pursue a change of scenery before the Nov. 10 trade deadline.
