Davante Adams Injury Return Timeline Updated By Rams' Sean McVay After Hamstring Surgery
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams could return to the team sooner than initially feared.
Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters Wednesday that Adams underwent surgery on his hamstring and is expected to return "on the shorter end" of his six-to-10 week estimated timeline. McVay said that estimation was "based on how everything went" with the clean out surgery.
Adams suffered the injury during the Rams' loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 18 and missed their most recent victory over his former team in the Las Vegas Raiders.
The six-time Pro Bowler led the NFL with 14 touchdown catches last season and was off to a solid start this year with 30 catches for 480 yards and four touchdowns in six games. He exploded for 195 yards and two scores against the New York Giants in Week 2 and followed up with 137 yards through the air in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos.
Despite this setback, Adams has been fairly durable throughout his career. He has never played fewer than 12 games in a season since he entered the league as a second-round draft pick in 2014.
Adams is one of the best wide receivers of his generation with six seasons of more than 1,000 receiving yards and seven seasons of double-digit touchdown catches. He has led the league in touchdown catches three different times.
That he has remained so effective even in the latter portion of his career is one reason the Rams reached the NFC Championship Game last season and were on the short list of realistic contenders coming into the 2026 campaign.
However, Los Angeles will now have to adjust to life without him on the field for more than a month. That adjustment started off well with the blowout win over the Raiders, and the next three games before the bye are against teams that have struggled in the Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Commanders and Cardinals.
Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua should be enough to keep the aerial attack rolling against those opponents, but the Rams will be far more dangerous when Adams does return.
