Packers vs. Steelers: Preseason Ticket Info, Date, TV Schedule and Live Stream
The Green Bay Packers will travel to Heinz Field to face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Aug. 23. It will be the second preseason game of the year for Green Bay and the third for Pittsburgh, which kicked off the preseason against the Minnesota Vikings in the Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 9.
Yes, it's the preseason, the time when head coaches call experimental plays and coordinators use strange personnel groupings as the first wave of cuts on Sept. 1 looms.
While the storylines that emerge from the preseason should be taken with a large grain of salt, it's no secret that the Steelers' preseason has gotten off to a shaky start, while the Packers came roaring out against the New England Patriots.

What to Watch
The Steelers and Packers finished second and sixth, respectively, in total offense last season, and both teams return the majority of their offensive stars in 2015.
However, while the Packers offense appears to be clicking this preseason—led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers, top wideouts Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb and halfback Eddie Lacy—the Steelers offense has been slow out of the gate.
In Pittsburgh's first preseason clash against Minnesota, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger sat, and Landry Jones was given the nod. The team was lethargic under Jones, who failed to orchestrate a drive resulting in a touchdown. Pittsburgh only managed to gain 191 yards in the forgettable effort.
Things picked up for Pittsburgh the following week when the team faced the Jacksonville Jaguars. Roethlisberger played one series and was 3-of-3 for 59 yards and a touchdown, all in 3:14. That's efficiency.
Steelers wideout Martavis Bryant looked particularly sharp in the loss to the Jaguars, connecting with Roethlisberger on a 44-yard touchdown pass.
"We want to start fast," Roethlisberger said, per the Associated Press (via ESPN.com). "We got everybody involved. ... I told the O-line if you guys protect like that and open up holes in the run game, good things are going to happen. That's what we need to do every time. We need to start fast like that."
The Packers know a thing or two about starting fast. Against the Patriots, Rodgers and his starting weapons went to the no-huddle and got off a mind-boggling 15 plays in 5:44 and 33 plays in all in the first quarter.
However, Green Bay's offense stalled in the red zone. That's been an issue for the team the last two seasons after leading the league in red-zone scoring percentage (68.52 percent) in 2012, per TeamRankings.com. The team will look to second-year tight end and big target Richard Rodgers (6'4", 257 lbs) to help in that area.
In this matchup, however, the starting offenses may not see much action. Week 2 is the sweet spot in terms of testing out depth and getting as many looks as possible at bubble players before the first round of cuts. It was already surprising to see Aaron Rodgers play a full quarter at New England; he and Roethlisberger will likely each lead one drive.
Defensively, a lot of young names will take the field for both teams.
The Steelers' new, young defense under first-year coordinator Keith Butler will feature second-year linebacker Ryan Shazier and young starting safety Shamarko Thomas, filling the void left by Troy Polamalu.
Because of injuries, Thomas and fellow starter Mike Mitchell are practicing on the field together for the first time since camp began, per Teresa Varley of Steelers.com. This matchup against the Packers' talented group of pass-catchers will prove crucial as the safeties develop chemistry.
The Packers have more young talent in their secondary than they know what to do with. 2015 second-round selection Quinten Rollins and undrafted rookie LaDarius Gunter turned in eye-catching performances against the Patriots. First-round pick Damarious Randall, who did not travel to New England because of injury, will also get a chance to play in his first preseason game.

As for the front seven, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported on Thursday that Steelers defensive tackle Cam Thomas is getting snaps at nose tackle in training camp after the team played him at defensive end in 2014. The move back to the position he played for the San Diego Chargers seems to be paying off, per Fittipaldo.
On Green Bay's side, look for the Packers to try out players on the defensive line to start opposite Mike Daniels in Week 1. Both Datone Jones and Letroy Guion will be suspended for the Packers' first game of the season, so linemen such as Josh Boyd and undrafted rookie Lavon Hooks should get a long look.
All in all, this is an exciting matchup between two playoff-caliber teams, a rarity in the preseason. The game could prove to be Sunday's most exciting...by preseason standards.
