Amanda Serrano's Retirement Title Fight Opponent, Scheduled Date and Location Announced
Amanda Serrano's legendary boxing career will come to an end on Jan. 9.
Most Valuable Promotions announced on Wednesday that Serrano will challenge Skye Falzon for the unified featherweight world championship in her retirement fight at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico.
Unlike traditional women's boxing matches consisting of 10 two-minute rounds, the Serrano-Falzon bout will be contested under men's rules with 12 three-minute rounds.
The Real Deal has experience in this format, as her 2023 matchup with Danila Ramos was the first women's unified championship fight to feature 12 three-minute rounds.
Serrano posted a statement on X about her final bout:
The matchup with Falzon will mark Serrano's 56th career boxing match. She is 50-4-1 through her first 55 bouts and has never lost via knockout/TKO.
Since her back-to-back losses against Katie Taylor, Serrano has won each of her last three fights.
Serrano's 32 career knockout wins are tied with Christy Martin for the most ever by a women's boxer. She said after equaling the mark with a second-round TKO against Cheyenne Hanson that surpassing Martin's record was something she was chasing.
"I can break the knockout record in my next fight," Serrano said. "I can get my 50th win and break Christy Martin's knockout record."
Serrano was unable to surpass the KO mark in her most recent fight, but she did get to win No. 50 by defeating Lucrecia Anabella Manzur via majority decision to retain the WBA, WBO, and The Ring featherweight titles on Aug. 21.
Falzon is 12-2 with seven knockout wins in her career. Her most recent appearance was a win over Monika Singh on Sept. 17 to win the WBA Oceania and WBA Asia women's featherweight championships.
