Joey Porter Jr. Calls Out Critics After Cowboys' Win vs. Eagles, 'They'll Be Quiet Soon'
Certain NFL fans and pundits questioned if Dallas Cowboys' cornerback Joey Porter Jr. missed a Week 5 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because he wasn't happy with the team not giving him a contract extension rather than the illness that was listed on the injury report.
But Porterโwho missed the first four games of the season while embroiled in a contract dispute with the Pittsburgh Steelers before being traded to Dallasโisn't bothered by the speculation.
"Me personally, I know the real," he toldย Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "I know the truth. I don't really pay too much attention online to what they have to say. I just got to keep doing my job on Sundays. Once they see the tape, they'll know. They'll be quiet soon."
The 26-year-old has appeared in three games for the Cowboys and has been quite good, only allowing one catch for five yards while being targeted nine times. Thus far, he's enjoyed his role in Christian Parker's defense.
"[He's] put me in a good position to really hone in on the defense and hone in on my task," he told Harris. "It's not too hard for me on the boundary when I just have to eliminate guys. That's exactly what he wants me to do, and I'm just going to keep doing that."
