Jonathan Taylor, Josh Downs' Top NFL Landing Spots After Colts Trade Quenton Nelson, Buckner
The fire sale has begun.
The 2-5 Indianapolis Colts traded guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks and defensive lineman DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday, a clear response to the team's recent three-game losing streak.
And more trades could be coming.
Running back Jonathan Taylor and wideout Josh Downs could be among the other players to find new homes before the Tuesday, Nov. 10 trade deadline. Below, we'll break down some potential destinations for each player.
Taylor: New York Giants

Yes, the New York Giants seemed to hand the reins back to Cam Skattebo this past week and, yes, he responded with 124 yards on the ground and a touchdown. But he has undeniable speed limitations, and Taylor would be a pretty sizable upgrade.
The 4-2-1 Giants have a real chance to win the NFC East this season, buoyed by the surprisingly strong play of JJ McCarthy, the dynamic Malik Nabers at wideout and a talent-loaded front seven on defense. Taylor would give them a home-run threat in the backfield and would erase some of the residual pain from Saquon Barkley leaving in free agency ahead of the 2024 season and promptly winning a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Taylor would be a great fit in New York's offense and give the team another elite playmaker. It's a win-now move for a young and ascending team, but the Giants have a real window this season they shouldn't let slip away.
Taylor: Minnesota Vikings

Yes, the Vikings have the veteran pair of Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason. But who would you rather have, that duo or Taylor?
We all know the answer is Taylor.
The Vikings have not been inspiring on offense and are currently 6-0 largely due to their defense and special teams. Adding an elite option like Taylor in the backfield would give them another dimension as they look to prove that this season's fast start isn't a fluke.
Taylor: New England Patriots

Rhamondre Stevenson has been known to leave some meat on the bone (alongside his fumbling issues) and the New England coaching staff doesn't seem to trust the explosive TreVeyon Henderson. Taylor would certainly provide an immediate upgrade for a team very much in contention mode.
This feels a bit less likely given some of the team's previously splashy moves, like trading for A.J. Brown, but it certainly would make them far scarier as they seek a return to the Super Bowl.
Downs: Kansas City Chiefs

Rashee Rice hasn't been healthy, Tyquan Thornton is likely on injured reserve until late in the regular season or the playoffs and Xavier Worthy simply isn't a No. 1 option at receiver—the Kansas City Chiefs could use some help for Patrick Mahomes.
Downs isn't an elite receiver by any means, but he'd be a nice fit for a Chiefs team in need of help at the position. This is a match that makes a lot of sense.
Downs: Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a No. 1 option in DK Metcalf and a burgeoning playmaker in Germie Bernard, but adding another threat out wide for Aaron Rodgers would make sense.
The AFC North is wide open at the moment—all four teams are separated by just one game in the standings—and improving on the margins would make a lot of sense for the Steelers.
