Jorge Posada Reveals He Doesn't Feel 'Welcome' Around Yankees After Legendary MLB Career
Former New York Yankees star catcher Jorge Posada revealed that he doesn't feel like the organization wants him around anymore.
"I don't feel welcome when I go there, you know? Even in spring training, I don't feel like โ I'm just like, I don't know, like, I don't feel welcome," Posada said during a Tuesday appearance on The Show podcast (h/t Matt Ehalt of the New York Post). "I don't feel like they want me there, so I don't go."
"I don't know what happened. I'd rather just move forward," he added. "My last season of my career was a really tough one when it comes to handling everything in my part and also the Yankees toward Jorge Posada. So, it's tough to go back and feel that again."
Posada spent his entire playing career on the Yankees from 1995 through 2011, helping them capture four World Series titles.
He earned five All-Star nods and six Silver Slugger Awards throughout his career in New York.
Posada sits at No. 9 on the Yankees' all-time home runs leaderboard while also holding the No. 14 spot on their all-time hits list.
It's worth noting that his final season in New York didn't go smoothly, as he primarily operated as a designated hitter instead of a catcher for the first time in his career.
Still, the Yankees retired Posada's No. 20 in a ceremony in Aug. 2015.
He was also in attendance for New York's spring training ahead of the 2025 season before appearing at the club's Old Timers' Day this year.
It's unknown what caused Posada to feel unwelcome around the Yankees, although he previously explained that the team's mentality needed to change in Aug. 2025.
"It's just more of an attitude than anything," Posada told SNY's Chelsea Sherrod at the time. "They just gotta get a little angry, hopefully a fight or something that happens, not a fight but something that happens to get them going again."
"They need to have that chip on their shoulder," he added. "You've gotta play like that. You can't be friends with everybody."
The Yankees are coming off a 2026 campaign in which they finished with a 93-68 record, but were swept by the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALDS.
