Dak Prescott Talks 'Hungry, Pissed Off Version' of Cowboys HC Schottenheimer After Win vs. Eagles
After a dominant 38-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football, Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer appeared more subdued than usual.
Per The Athletic's Jon Machota, Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott acknowledged his coach's change in demeanor, telling reporters that he's got a new chip on his shoulder after weeks of criticism.
"Definitely a hungry, pissed off version of Shotty," Prescott said after the game. "It's not like he's naive. It's not like he hadn't heard some noise about him, and whether it's calling the games or whatever doubt that's been out there. But we've got his back. He knows that. He's a guy that takes a lot of pride in his job, a lot of pride in his team."
Machota reported that Schottenheimer's time at the podium during his post-game press conference "lasted barely over four minutes. Something was off. His answers were much shorter than usual. Some were only a few words."
When Schottenheimer was asked about his curt responses, he said, "I'm great. Excited for our guys."
Schottenheimer came under fire after Dallas' slow start to the 2026 campaign. Still, at 3-4, the Cowboys are in second place in the NFC East, and they have a chance to climb the standings with matchups against the Arizona Cardinals (2-5) and Indianapolis Colts (2-5) up next.
Prescott added that he expects Schottenheimer to continue to bring some extra fire as he tries to silence his doubters.
"Everybody handles everything different, so I don't blame him to an extent. We've got his back," Prescott said. "More importantly, it's just about us going out there and executing on Sundays."
