It's transition time in the NHL.
Nearly one-quarter of the league's teams—seven of 32, to be exact—entered Tuesday with multiple-game win streaks, yielding significant movements across the board in this week's edition of B/R's NHL Power Rankings.
The hockey staff got together to vote (awarding 32 points for a first-place vote all the way down to one point for a No. 32 tally) and the point totals created the 32-to-1 ranking which follows.

Statistics through games of Monday, Oct. 26.
32. Vancouver Canucks
1 of 32
Last Week: 30
Relishing good times is one thing, but the Canucks need to be consistent in recovering from bad ones, according to veteran Brock Boeser. "We need to find a way to respond when they're tilting the ice," he said. "We need to find a way to squash it."
31. Chicago Blackhawks
2 of 32
Last Week: 27
An 0-for-7 power play is never good, but it was particularly bad in a one-goal home loss amid a stretch of three goals scored in three games. Chicago entered Tuesday's games with the league's only single-digit (8.3 percent) conversion rate.
30. Philadelphia Flyers
3 of 32
Last Week: 29
The Flyers lost their first nine (0-6-3) but rallied for three straight wins to begin to right the ship. "We've played to our identity a little bit more and we're stacking some more shifts," coach Rick Tocchet said. "It's a lot of positive stuff."
28. Columbus Blue Jackets
5 of 32
Last Week: 26
Goals were hard to come by for the Blue Jackets during an eight-game stretch in which they failed to reach four, and more than 20 straight missed power-play opportunities. Columbus was 29th on the power play (11.5 percent) entering Tuesday.
27. Calgary Flames
6 of 32
Last Week: 31
Break up the surging Flames, who went 4-0 on a homestand in Calgary while outscoring their opponents, 14-6. A change in scenery is on tap for Wednesday, when the team makes its first 2026-27 to visit Battle of Alberta rival Edmonton.
26. Anaheim Ducks
7 of 32
Last Week: 24
Things didn't go so well in New York against the Rangers and Islanders or subsequently in New Jersey, but Anaheim bounced back in a win at Philadelphia. "Way better team game (against the Flyers)," forward Leo Carlsson said.
25. Buffalo Sabres
8 of 32
Last Week: 18
Losing three straight wasn't an ideal way for the Sabres to prep for a California trip that'll finish on Saturday in Los Angeles. "We just got to keep working," defenseman Rasmus Dahlin said. "And I'm sure it will get better here."
24. Winnipeg Jets
9 of 32
Last Week: 13
Heading outside wasn't a remedy for the Jets, whose Heritage Classic loss to Montreal was their fifth straight (0-3-2). Dawson Mercer debuted with Winnipeg in the game after he arrived from New Jersey in the Connor Hellebuyck trade.
23. Pittsburgh Penguins
10 of 32
Last Week: 28
The Penguins went 0-for-4 on an extended trip but they've been a different team back in western Pennsylvania, rattling off wins over Florida (4-0) and Nashville (3-2) heading into a Thursday date with visiting Utah.
22. New York Rangers
11 of 32
Last Week: 10
Igor Shesterkin's injury meant goaltending was going to be an issue for the Rangers and it's become one during a three-game skid in which they've allowed 18 goals. Dylan Garand has given up 12 on the last 62 shots he's faced.
21. St. Louis Blues
12 of 32
Last Week: 25
A visit from Carolina gave coach Jim Montgomery a chance to give his team some perspective. "Very humbling," he said. "Also, (a) tutorial by the Stanley Cup champions about how to play to who you are no matter the score."
20. San Jose Sharks
13 of 32
Last Week: 22
Going 3-2-1 on a six-game trip would have been acceptable had the Sharks not given up four late goals to lose the finale at Boston. "We had some momentum," goalie Alex Nedeljkovic said, "just let it slip away and didn't finish."
19. Detroit Red Wings
14 of 32
Last Week: 23
Twenty-four-year-old goalie Michal Postava picked up his first NHL win in memorable fashion on Monday, stopping 25 shots and blanking Edmonton in a shootout on the way to a 4-3 defeat of the Oilers. "It's amazing," he said. "I feel like a kid."
18. Nashville Predators
15 of 32
Last Week: 19
Finding the correct power-play recipe has provided a spike for the Predators, who were 4-of-7 with a man advantage in a 6-2 rout of visiting Colorado. Nashville entered Tuesday with the NHL's No. 3 power play (33.3 percent).
17. Colorado Avalanche
16 of 32
Last Week: 9
The scuffling continued for the Avs, whose loss at Nashville was a third in four games. "(We talked about using) our skating to check and to attack," coach Jared Bednar said, "and we looked like we were the more sluggish group."
16. New York Islanders
17 of 32
Last Week: 16
Peter DeBoer won 149 games in Dallas and made three playoff final fours, but he didn't enjoy the return which yielded a 6-3 loss. "I've done this a few times (in) a few different spots," he said. "Your first game back's always a little special."
15. Toronto Maple Leafs
18 of 32
Last Week: 21
A four-game run in which Toronto scored 21 goals was ended in Calgary, where Kirill Marchenko left with an injury. Meanwhile, Auston Matthews became the fastest in franchise history to amass 800 points (703 games).
14. Seattle Kraken
19 of 32
Last Week: 15
These are not your father's Kraken. The perpetually punchless Kraken had a run of seven games with at least three goals, maxing out at six against Detroit, before they were held to just one in a 5-1 loss to visiting Minnesota.
13. Florida Panthers
20 of 32
Last Week: 8
Think the Panthers won't be happy to be home on Friday? Think again. Florida's recent four-game road trip began with losses at Ottawa and Pittsburgh in which it was outscored, 9-1. Florida won 42 home games across its two Stanley Cup years.
12. Washington Capitals
21 of 32
Last Week: 11
There's nothing quite like scoring against an old team, and Alex Tuch got that experience, twice, in Washington's 4-3 defeat of Buffalo. "You always want to score," he said, "and to be able to get the game-winner was pretty special."
11. Montreal Canadiens
22 of 32
Last Week: 17
Jacob Fowler became the fourth rookie goalie to win an outdoor game when his 33 saves helped Montreal past host Winnipeg at Princess Auto Stadium, home of the CFL's Blue Bombers. He's also the youngest goalie to start outdoors.
10. Ottawa Senators
23 of 32
Last Week: 12
Scoring 12 goals across two home wins was a nice sendoff for a western trip that'll keep the Senators away until November 7. A 7-4 defeat of the Rangers was the first Ottawa win for Jonas Johansson, acquired in September from Tampa Bay.
9. Vegas Golden Knights
24 of 32
Last Week: 1
Ryan Craig leaned on leadership when Vegas faced its first 2026-27 adversity. "They look at themselves, what can they improve, what can they continue, what can they build on?" he said. "We need to do the same thing as the coaching staff."
8. New Jersey Devils
25 of 32
Last Week: 20
Count fellow U.S. Olympic gold medalist Jack Hughes among those excited by the prospect of Connor Hellebuyck as a teammate in New Jersey. "We are lucky to have him," Hughes said. "It's exciting. He's one of the best in the league, right?
7. Utah Mammoth
26 of 32
Last Week: 7
Don't expect a six-game road trip, including visits to Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa, to concern the Mammoth, who've won four road games this season and were ninth in road wins (21) in 2025-26.
6. Edmonton Oilers
27 of 32
Last Week: 2
Edmonton's early-season resilience keeps getting tested after Zach Hyman (against Detroit) and Mattias Ekholm (against Carolina) left games with apparent head injuries. The Oilers have dropped consecutive games for the first time in 2026-26.
5. Tampa Bay Lightning
28 of 32
Last Week: 4
Nikita Kucherov's Hall of Fame chops are obvious and he took another step toward legend status with an assist against Utah that made him the Lightning's all-time points leader with 1,138 in 890 games, passing Steven Stamkos's 1,137 in 1,082.
4. Dallas Stars
29 of 32
Last Week: 14
Nobody's been hotter lately than the Stars, who shook off early doldrums with a prolonged streak that lifted them above .500 and closer to the top of the Central Division. Their plus-12 goal differential entering Tuesday was third in the league.
3. Minnesota Wild
30 of 32
Last Week: 6
Consecutive losses in Alberta weren't the ideal way for the Wild to begin a five-game trip but they bounced back with wins in Seattle and Vancouver in which they scored nine goals. "I just liked our push back," coach John Hynes said.
2. Carolina Hurricanes
31 of 32
Last Week: 3
The champs took to the road and picked up seven of a possible 10 points before returning home for a three-game stand. "There's not too many nights where you don't get that (effort)," coach Rod Brind'Amour said.
1. Boston Bruins
32 of 32
Last Week: 5
Going 7-0-1 in eight games is good, scoring four in the third period to steal a win is better for the Bruins. "It's impressive how mature this group is sometimes during certain stages and it's fun to see," captain David Pastrnak said.
