The NFL preseason is starting to heat up as teams begin leaning a little more heavily on their starters for the next couple weeks. It's always a delicate balance for coaches as they try to get prepared while still limiting the injury risk.
Of course, the exhibition games are important for the players lower on the depth chart, as well. These are the opportunities that decide whether they will survive the looming roster cuts or end up on the free-agent market looking for a new team.
So let's check out all of the details for the remaining games in Week 2 of the preseason. The schedule is followed by a look at some of the key stories worth following over the next few days. For all ticket information, check out Score Big.

Key Storylines
Carolina Panthers Without Kelvin Benjamin
Injuries are the worst part of the preseason. Every year, several players see their seasons come to an end before the games that count even arrive. Unfortunately, Benjamin joined that list this week after suffering a torn ACL during practice Wednesday.
It's a massive loss for Carolina, as the Florida State product shined as a rookie, catching 73 passes for over 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns. Fellow wideout Jerricho Cotchery admitted trying to replace him is an uphill battle, per David Newton of ESPN.com.
"I don't know," Cotchery said. "He's a heck of a player. They've done a great job of creating a lot of competition in the room. This is one of those instances where it'll benefit you by having guys who have that opportunity to step up. That's what we need right now."
The Panthers don't have another legitimate No. 1 receiver on the roster. It's going to take a collective effort to replace him in the aggregate, but even that process is going to get delayed because Devin Funchess won't be available against the Miami Dolphins due to a hamstring injury.
The leaves an unheralded group that includes Cotchery, Ted Ginn, Philly Brown, Brenton Bersin and Jarrett Boykin to work with Cam Newton. The team will hope one or two of them emerge before the regular season, but it could just lead to an even heavier workload for tight end Greg Olsen.
Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota Back in Action
Winston and Mariota, the top two selections in this year's draft, both had merely average preseason debuts last week. That doesn't come as much of a surprise, of course. They are both in the early stages of a learning curve that's going to take some time to work through.
While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' newest star had a rushing touchdown, he completed just nine of 19 passes with an interception. His Tennessee Titans counterpart went 7-of-8, showing off the accuracy he's displayed in training camp, but he had a pair of turnovers.
The biggest adjustment along with learning the playbook is adjusting to the speed of the game. The defenses are much faster than at the college level. That's why, as Bleacher Report's Cian Fahey pointed out, there will be peaks and valleys during their development:
"Rookie QBs, you're going to get mistakes and flashes. Very similar starts for Winston and Mariota.
— Cian Fahey (@Cianaf) August 16, 2015"
Both quarterbacks should have a good chance to show some progress this week against defenses that ranked in the bottom half of the league against the pass last season. Winston squares off with the Cincinnati Bengals (20th) while Mariota battles the St. Louis Rams (19th).
How Bill Belichick Handles Tom Brady Situation
The New England Patriots remain stuck in limbo while they await final word on the Deflategate situation. Brady continues to challenge his four-game suspension in court, but the next hearing isn't scheduled until Aug. 31.
While the superstar quarterback will want to keep preparing as if he'll be under center Week 1, the Pats must be prepared for the opposite outcome, as well. That means getting Jimmy Garoppolo the necessary snaps with the first-team offense.
He connected on 20 of 30 passes for 159 yards, no touchdowns and an interception in relief of Brady against the Green Bay Packers last week. The Packers defense also sacked him seven times. The backup admitted afterward he needed to clean up the errors quickly, as noted by Zack Cox of NESN.
"There were ups and downs," Garoppolo said. "I've got a long way to go, obviously. Eleven points isn't by any means a good number."
All sides are hoping for a Deflategate ruling by Sept. 4, but that's after the exhibition slate comes to a close. So Belichick must work in both quarterbacks with the main skill players, who may be forced to play some extra snaps, or risk getting caught off guard when a ruling is made.
