Ranking Penta's 5 Best Ways to Cash In WWE Money in the Bank Contract

Kevin BergeOct 27, 2026

Penta is Mr. Money in the Bank, and all eyes are on the luchador for when he might choose to cash in his world title opportunity.

Assuming WWE never again wants to have the briefcase cashed in on a midcard title like the United States Championship, he has one of two titles in his view: the WWE Championship or World Heavyweight Championship.

Currently, those titles are held by Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns. Both are intriguing options, but the path to the gold has many branching paths.

How should Penta cash in his briefcase? When should he call his shot? Where would be the most exciting place for the cash-in? Keep reading for the best options to make Penta's moment truly special.

5. Penta Rushes to Gold, Dethroning Sami Zayn on the October 30 SmackDown

1 of 5

Pro: Penta wins the gold in shocking fashion and sets himself up for a rematch with Roman Reigns as well.

Con: This would not allow Penta to keep running with his unique briefcase and might lead to him losing the title quickly.

On the October 23 SmackDown, Penta teamed with Trick Williams and his own brother, Rey Fénix, to defeat Sami Zayn, Johnny Gargano and Ricky Saints.

The end of SmackDown teased that Zayn will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Trick on Friday's show.

This could set up Penta to dethrone Zayn after the champion cheats to retain against Williams.

The positive with this idea is that Penta could get a rematch against Reigns at Crown Jewel after this win, allowing him to even avenge that loss at a major premium live event.

However, another defeat to The OTC could undercut Penta's momentum. Separately, CM Punk and Kevin Owens would remain threats to his WWE Championship reign.

Either man is more likely to go to WrestleMania 43 with the Undisputed WWE Championship, which would mean that Penta's title reign would be shorter than he deserves.

4. Penta Cashes in on Sami Zayn After His Men's Crown Jewel Championship Match

Pro: Gives Penta a big title win on a memorable stage and sets up the luchador to be the focal point of SmackDown through the rest of 2026.

Con: Again, Penta has a great briefcase to carry around and would lose it and likely lose the title in short order with CM Punk and Kevin Owens circling.

Penta continues to circle Sami Zayn each week on SmackDown, and WWE cannot keep teasing his inevitable cash-in forever.

Unless WWE sets up a clear rival to keep the luchador busy, that cash-in will happen sooner than later.

If Penta is going to cash in soon, Crown Jewel offers his best opportunity to remain a babyface by defeating the villainous Zayn to become WWE champion.

However, the story of Owens defeating Zayn to regain the top title is a major storyline that WWE cannot ignore.

If Penta dethrones Zayn, it is highly likely that KO would be the one to beat him and certainly before WrestleMania. That is a short time in the spotlight for Penta.

3. Penta Turns Heel by Taking Advantage of a Vulnerable Roman Reigns at Survivor Series

Pro: Penta could not ask for a bigger moment than dethroning Roman Reigns at Survivor Series, and he would instantly become one of WWE's top heels.

Con: Fans are not ready to boo Penta, and it is hard to imagine The OTC losing a rematch for his gold after a cheap cash-in.

A Money in the Bank cash-in is often a heel move, and taking advantage of a beaten-down Reigns after his WarGames match against The 946 would make Penta look unmistakably like a villain.

This could have an impact similar to CM Punk's heel turn following his second cash-in, against Jeff Hardy.

Is Penta ready to be a heel though? The luchador is growing in popularity and represents the future of lucha libre in WWE.

If he is going to carry the legacy of Rey Mysterio forward as WWE's most popular luchador, a heel turn would be a diversion from that goal.

As big a moment as this would be, it would distract from the reason that Penta won the Money in the Bank briefcase in the first place.

It is best not to take a massive swing that could hurt Penta more than help him long term, especially since Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi at WrestleMania 43 is still likely the end goal.

2. Penta Challenges Roman Reigns to a Rematch at WrestleMania 43

Pro: There is no bigger stage in WWE than WrestleMania, and it would be especially appropriate for him to dethrone Roman Reigns after The OTC cost him his biggest match in Mexico City.

Con: Saudi Arabia is not the best place for Penta's first title win, and this would get in the way of Oba Femi's rise to the top of Raw.

All signs point to The OTC remaining dominant all the way to 'Mania where he will face WWE's biggest rising star, Oba Femi.

However, Penta clearly made a lasting impact with his first match against Reigns and could do so again on a bigger stage.

While it has been teased in the past, no one has ever used the Money in the Bank briefcase to call their spot in a 'Mania main event, and it would make sense for Penta to want that.

Is Saudi Arabia the ideal place for this moment? No, especially since the first match between Reigns and Penta was so special because it was in Mexico, but 'Mania is still the biggest show of the year.

While Penta could also take this same approach in calling his shot for the WWE Championship, there is no bigger babyface call Penta could make than saying he is going to beat The OTC at the show he has main evented more than anyone else.

1. Call His Shot at an Undisputed WWE Championship Match in Mexico

5 of 5

Pro: Makes up for Penta not winning the gold in Mexico earlier in the year and creates one of the most important title wins in WWE history in Mexico.

Con: No clear WWE show on the horizon for this moment.

It is not clear yet when WWE will return to Mexico, but there is no better country for Penta to win the world title.

His journey to the top prize began when he fell just short against Roman Reigns in Mexico City in September, supported by a raucous crowd that wanted to see the upset.

Now that Penta holds the Money in the Bank briefcase, he could cash in his contract, but he could also follow the Rob Van Dam path in choosing the best environment for his success.

WWE could even use this to promote AAA by having Penta call his shot for Guerra de Titanes in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

WWE could make that AAA show feel must-see by announcing a WWE Championship match for the main event.

It would not necessarily matter who held the championship at that point, but it could be especially appropriate for him to dethrone the first man to win the WWE title in Mexico, Sami Zayn.

Whether it is at a AAA show or he waits until 2027 when WWE next returns to Mexico for a Raw or SmackDown, this is the best option to give Penta an unforgettable babyface win.
