Myles Garrett Injury Update, Latest on Rams Star's Timeline to Return to Practice After Surgery
Los Angeles Rams star defender Myles Garrett could potentially be available to rejoin the active roster as soon as Week 8.
ESPN and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Friday on the Pat McAfee Show it is "likely" Garrett returns to practice next week.
Garrett, who underwent knee surgery ahead of Week 2, has already been ruled out for a Week 7 game at the Las Vegas Raiders.
Returning to practice will mark the opening of a 21-day window during which the Rams can activate Garrett from IR.
Garrett has been sidelined since Week 1 after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his knee in September.
Should Garrett return to practice next Wednesday, that window could encompass games against the Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Commanders and Arizona Cardinals before the Rams break for their Week 11 bye.
Garrett played 46 snaps in his Rams debut before undergoing surgery on an injury Rapoport reported had impacted him since training camp.
The star defender said he had been limited by the injury when he was held without a tackle in a Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Rapoport reported in September Garrett had been given an expected recovery timeline of six weeks.
The Athletic's Jonathan Jones later reported one Rams source saw that six-week timeline as a "worst-case scenario," and that a second source predicted Garrett would be available for Week 7.
Garrett will now be out at least until Week 8, and reporters differ in their optimism as to when he will return. ESPN's Dan Graziano estimated earlier this week Garrett would be "likely out for another two or three weeks at least."
The Rams have gone 2-3 in five games without Garrett while failing to live up to last year's status as the most productive offense in football.
