Ravens' Marlon Humphrey Calls Out Lamar Jackson 'Slander,' Says QB Gets 'Unfair Treatment'
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey defended teammate and quarterback Lamar Jackson on Thursday in a chat with reporters.
"It seems like Lamar's the only quarterback kind of gets the slander that he gets for anytime anything is going on," Humphrey said, per ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "I feel like you just don't see these same articles. I'm in the hot tub and it's this, that and the third. Unfair treatment."
Per Hensley, Humphrey was asked if he was referencing injury "slander." Hensley said Humphrey didn't specify, but the four-time Pro Bowler added the following remarks:
"I just feel like sometimes it seems like it gets away from ... I don't know if it's because of lack of agent or what, that no one can kind of defend him. But I do know this, if Lamar Jackson can play, if he's healthy enough to play, he will play, and that's kind of all I can say for that."
One can perhaps safely guess Humphrey was referring to critics of Jackson who bemoan his absences from the lineup, including this year.
Jackson suffered a left ankle sprain on October 4 in the first half of his team's 23-17 win over the Tennessee Titans. He missed the remainder of that contest and the Ravens' next two games against the Atlanta Falcons (31-23 win) and Cleveland Browns (13-10 loss).
Jackson turned in limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday this week in advance of the team's home game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Jackson has dealt with numerous injuries over the years and missed time, although he's still been in the lineup far more often than not since becoming the Ravens' QB1 in the middle of the 2018 season.
From 2019-2025, Jackson started 100 of a possible 117 games. He missed five games apiece in 2021 and 2022 but played every game in 2023 and 2024 minus the 2023 regular season opener, which occurred after Baltimore had already secured the AFC's No. 1 seed.
Jackson missed four games last year (three due to a hamstring injury, one due to a back contusion) and ultimately was slowed down by ailments overall.
Unfortunately, Jackson has now dealt with a new injury, but it appears he's at least trending in the right direction for a massive AFC North battle with the Bengals.
