Angel Reese Drops Epic Quote to Explain Mindset During Dream's WNBA Finals Run
Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese posted 21 points, 12 rebounds and three steals to lead her team to a 97-71 home win over the Golden State Valkyries in Game 3 of the WNBA Finals on Wednesday evening.
After the game, Reese dropped this quote regarding her mindset this season.
Lindsay Gibbs of CBS Sports asked Reese how she's grown as a leader this year, noting that the team was feeding off her Wednesday. Reese provided this response.
"Just try to show up every day and be consistent for the team," Reese began. "No matter whether my shots are falling, I just want to make sure I bring energy, and hopefully I can stay the same, but every day I just want to come in every day and just pour into everybody, bring the energy, bring the morale, because I think it's contagious.
"When you have a mentality that started from me, where I'm hype all the time, and bringing the confidence into everybody, y'all not taking this from us. And in my heart, I'm not letting you take this from us, and it becomes contagious within the team. They feel that confidence too. So that's kind of been my mindset throughout the entire season, just being able to want it more than anybody else."
Atlanta lost Game 1, 68-64 in a tough defensive battle, but the Dream have since rallied for a pair of big wins. In Game 2, Atlanta won 79-65 thanks in large part to Reese, who posted a monster performance (30 points, 16 rebounds).
The Dream certainly didn't let the Valkyries take Game 3 from them, outscoring the visitors 51-31 in the second half. Reese was fantastic on both ends, notably shooting 7-of-12 (5-of-5 from the free throw line) and helping hold Golden State to 34.7 percent shooting.
Atlanta will look to take a 3-1 series lead on Saturday when it faces Golden State at 1 p.m. ET in State Farm Arena.
