Sean McVay Updates Rams' WR Plans After Davante Adams Injury Ahead of NFL Trade Deadline
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters on Wednesday that the team hasn't spoken internally about bringing in another wide receiver as wideout Davante Adams recovers from a ruptured left semitendinosus (hamstring muscle) suffered last Sunday vs. the Arizona Cardinals.
Adams, a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time First Team All-Pro, will undergo surgery and miss six-to-10 weeks.
Adams is in his second year with the Rams after signing a two-year deal in March 2025. He made a strong impact in his first season, catching 60 passes for 789 yards and 14 receiving touchdowns, an NFL high.
The 13-year veteran continued his success in 2026, catching 30 passes for 480 yards and four touchdowns in six games. His season included an eight-catch, 195-yard, two-touchdown effort in a 28-6 win over the New York Giants and a seven-catch, 137-yard effort in a 30-26 loss against the Denver Broncos.
However, it's been a rough start for the 2-4 Rams, a preseason Super Bowl favorite that has suffered multiple injuries. Los Angeles has also played poorly in the back half of games, and now the Rams face an uphill battle.
Losing Adams is a tough blow, though he could return shortly after the Week 11 bye.
In the meantime, Rams wideout Puka Nacua will remain the team's top target. Konata Mumpfield is in line to be the team's WR2. The second-year pro has eight catches for 127 yards and a score. L.A. should also continue to use its tight ends, namely Tyler Higbee, who is fourth on the team in catches (24).
Los Angeles continues its season on Sunday at the Las Vegas Raiders.
