Heyward Comments on Injury

Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette noted Heyward said he'll be ready to play against the Redskins in the regular-season opener on Sept. 12.

Hayward Crucial to Steelers for Playoff Push

The Steelers signed Heyward to a six-year deal worth just north of $59 million prior to the 2015 training camp. That sizable commitment all but signaled the team's willingness to make him a centerpiece of the defense moving forward.

After recording 7.5 sacks over the course of his first three seasons in the Steel City, Heyward matched that total in 2014 while posting 35 tackles. Appearing in all 16 games during the 2015 regular season, he recorded a career-high 39 tackles and seven sacks.
