Brown's Absence Was the Latest Blow to Panthers' WR Corps
Any injury is concerning, but this one is especially worrisome for the Panthers because of their lack of proven depth at the wide receiver position.
Brown tallied 296 yards and two touchdowns in his rookie season in 2014 but demonstrated flashes of his potential with speed and the ability to make defenders miss in open space. This hasn't been a breakout season for the former Ohio State star, though he is tied for second on the team with three touchdown receptions and ranks third with 17 catches for 233 receiving yards.
Rookie wide receiver Devin Funchess has done a good job of creating big plays, but he has also shown erratic hands. Fortunately for Panthers fans, Ted Ginn Jr. has shouldered some of the load as a top wide receiver this year.
