C.J. Stroud Is a QB 'That Can F--king Deal It with Anybody,' Says Schultz After Texans' Win vs. Jags
The Houston Texans' offense was plenty confident that C.J. Stroud could lead the team to a game-winning score when they took over with 1:49 remaining in the fourth quarter during Sunday's matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
"It was, 'S--t, we're in business,'" tight end Dalton Schultz told The Athletic's Michael Silver. "You give us a bunch of timeouts and two minutes on the clock, and we have a quarterback that can f--king deal it with anybody. He's dealing it as good as anybody in the league."
The confidence was founded. Stroud drove the Texans 36 yards in six plays, setting up Ka'imi Fairbairn's game-winning, 49-yard field goal in the 34-31 victory.
Stroud, much besieged after disappointing seasons in 2024 and 2025, has thrown for 1,714 yards, nine touchdowns and just one interception this season. He looks far more like the player who took the league by storm as a rookie, and in the process has led the Texans to a pair of wins after a rough 0-4 start.
"His back's against the wall. Like, he obviously felt some type of way after last year and came in with a f--king laser-locked focus, and I think it's just allowed him to elevate his game to a whole new level," Schultz noted.
