Travis Hunter's Wife Leanna Calls Out Shannon Sharpe in IG Photo, Hall of Famer Reacts in New Video

The wife of Jacksonville Jaguars star Travis Hunter called out NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe after Hunter's big day, and the retired tight end offered his response.

Hunter caught a touchdown pass and intercepted a pass in Sunday's 34-31 loss to the Houston Texans, something that hadn't been done in an NFL game since 2002.

In a pair of Instagram Stories, Leanna Hunter mocked those who said the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner couldn't be a two-way player and called out Sharpe specifically: "Anyways … @shannonsharpe84 When you speak about my husband make sure you put 'TWO WAY' player in front."

Sharpe countered on his Nightcap podcast that Hunter's performance only reinforced what he had said before. He believes the second-year player is an "every-down corner" who can be utilized situationally as a wide receiver:

In Sharpe's defense, that's exactly what happened Sunday. According to Pro Football Reference, Hunter logged 62 snaps on defense to only nine on offense. He just happened to make the most of his time as a wideout, catching four passes for 59 yards and the one score.

There simply isn't a modern precedent for an NFL player having a full-time role on both sides of the ball. The closest examples were players who had one designated position and filled in at a second through necessity or a strategic gimmick.

Logging 100-plus snaps for 17 games is a recipe to have a short career. People have raised this concern for Hunter since he was in college.

Even if he doesn't have an even split between receiver and corner, the 2025 first-round pick can still be a one-of-a-kind talent if he excels on defense while being an effective pass-catcher on a limited basis.
