Eagles' Offensive Struggles Spotlighted in Brutal Stat with Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley Out Injured
Philadelphia Eagles fans are going to start boycotting third quarters. They won't be missing much if they do.
The team's ineptitude on the offensive side of the ball coming out of halftime continued on Sunday. Just take a look at this truly bleak stat:
It hasn't just been third quarters that have been rough for the Eaglesโthe team broke a streak of three games without a second-half touchdown on Sunday:
Now, there is some context to consider here.
For one, the Birds have been ravaged by injuries on the offensive side of the ball, alongside the in-season retirement of Lane Johnson and the recent trade of Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens. On Sunday alone, Philly was without Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and Landon Dickersonโinjured center Drew Kendall also didn't play, though he was active in a backup roleโwhile players like DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert have missed time this season as well.
There was also the expectation that the Eagles might get off to a somewhat slow start offensively as they adjusted to the scheme of yet another new offensive coordinator, Sean Mannion.
But all of that context aside, nobody ever expected it to be this bad. It's getting late early for Philadelphia's season, and the offense is the main culprit in that regard.
