The Chicago Bears controlled the first three-plus quarters of Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons, but it wasn't all good news for the NFC North team.
ESPN's Courtney Cronin reported wide receiver Jahdae Walker was ejected early in the fourth quarter when he head butted Falcons wide receiver Chris Blair. The play happened on a kickoff with Chicago kicking the ball to Atlanta after going up 31-7 on a Cairo Santos field goal.
It was yet another penalty for the Bears.
Cronin noted it was their 12th for 133 yards, which was their most in a single game since the 2016 campaign. A number of them, including multiple holdings and an offensive pass interference on Colston Loveland, nullified big plays for the offense.
While Chicago thoroughly outplayed the Falcons for extended stretches leading up to Walker's ejection, the penalties were a problem and something for head coach Ben Johnson to focus on moving forward.
As for Walker, he's a secondary receiver in the aerial attack.
Luther Burden III, Rome Odunze, Kalif Raymond and tight end Colston Loveland are typically going to see more targets when the Bears drop back to throw, although Walker plays on special teams and scored a touchdown in the opener against the Carolina Panthers.
Walker entered Sunday's contest with just the one catch for one yard and a touchdown from that win over Carolina.
He had six catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns last season.
