Alvin Kamara Joins Exclusive NFL Club with Rare Statistical Milestone in Saints vs. Giants

New Orleans Saints star running back Alvin Kamara joined elite company during Sunday's game against the New York Giants.

After his 31-yard touchdown reception early in the third quarter, Kamara became the sixth player in NFL history to record 5,000 rushing and receiving yards in his career.

Kamara entered Sunday's game with 7,336 career rushing yards and 4,989 career receiving yards. His touchdown reception broke a 10-10 tie after the Saints stormed back from a 10-0 deficit.

Kamara has never recorded a 1,000-yard rushing or receiving season in his career, but his dual-threat ability allowed him to still become one of the best running backs of his generation. The 31-year-old has been selected to the Pro Bowl five times, and he's earned second-team All-Pro honors twice.

Kamara has been off to a slow start this season, entering Sunday's matchup with 86 rushing yards and 41 receiving yards. He's tied for the team lead with two rushing touchdowns, but it's clear that it's been an adjustment to share the backfield with Travis Etienne.

Despite opening the year with a 1-4 record, the Saints still have a chance to get back into the race for the NFC South. The Carolina Panthers currently lead the division with a 2-2 record, so there's still a path to bounce back if New Orleans can string together some wins.

Kamara and the Saints will try to finish off Sunday's comeback against the Giants after the star ball-carrier achieved history.
