Raiders' Ashton Jeanty Gives Injury Update Ahead of Bills Game, Says He's 'Ready to Go'ย
After dealing with injuries to start the season, Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty provided a positive update on Thursday.
The second-year player says he's "ready to go" for this week's matchup against the Buffalo Bills, adding that this is the best he's felt all season and he's starting overcome the mental battle.
"I think anytime you sustain any type of injury, that's more of a battle you face," Jeanty said.
Jeanty has yet to miss time this season, but it's clear that he hasn't been 100 percent. He was limited to just 10 carries against the New England Patriots last week, recording 27 yards, though he added three receptions for 50 yards.
ESPN's Dan Graziano noted on Wednesday that the Raiders will likely give Jeanty a week to recover from his early ailments and gear up for the second half of the season.
"Jeanty has been bothered by an ankle injury since the preseason and is now dealing with a foot injury as well," Graizano wrote. "He was questionable to play Sunday and only got cleared after a nine-minute pregame workout and discussion with team trainers and coaches. But keep an eye on this situation. The Raiders have internally discussed giving Jeanty a week off to heal at some point."
It remains to be seen whether Las Vegas still plans to let Jeanty rest soon, but his comments on Thursday indicate that he feels at least close to 100 percent. Graziano also noted that Jeanty doesn't want to miss any time and has pushed through his injuries so far.
The Raiders don't have their bye week until Week 13, so it's not a bad idea to give Jeanty a break before that if he's still managing injuries.
Jeanty had 975 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie and has recorded 291 rushing yards so far this year, adding 215 yards and two touchdowns through the air.
While Jeanty hasn't gotten going the way he and Las Vegas hoped, the Raiders are still off to a surprising 3-2 start. They've dropped their last two games, though, and have a tough matchup on deck against Josh Allen and the Bills.
