The Kansas City Royals provided an update on their forthcoming downtown ballpark on Thursday.

Per Olivia Johnson of Fox 4 in Kansas City, the stadium is expected to cost approximately $1.9 billion, with the rest of the funds going toward a mixed-use development district in the Crown Center area. The new features won't replace the traditions of Kauffman Stadium, which the Royals are moving from before their lease expires in 2031.
The Royals' new stadium is expected to be ready for Opening Day in 2030. Johnson noted that the hope is that the team will lease the facility for at least 30 years.
The Royals ended the 2026 season with a 69-93 record, missing the playoffs for the ninth time in the last 10 years since winning the 2016 World Series.
