Aliyah Boston Injury Update, Timeline to Return to Fever After Knee Surgery to Repair Meniscus
The Indiana Fever announced Thursday that star forward Aliyah Boston underwent surgery to repair her right meniscus.
The team didn't provide a timeframe for her recovery as it relates to the 2027 WNBA season.
Boston averaged 16.1 points and 8.0 rebounds this season, earning her fourth All-Star selection. She battled leg trouble throughout the year, though it didn't seem to impact her in the playoffs. She averaged 19.7 points on 58.1 percent shooting, including 45.5 percent on threes, in the first round against the Las Vegas Aces.

Even assuming she's on the court for opening night, Boston's surgery is another offseason variable for the Fever when they already have a lot on their plate.
Four-time All-Star Kelsey Mitchell is an unrestricted free agent, and she indicated she plans to at least explore all of her options. Three-point specialist Sophie Cunningham is headed for the open market as well.
Even if Indiana runs it back, the team probably can't count on continued improvement from Caitlin Clark as the one thing that will propel it to the 2027 Finals.
The trouble is, there aren't a lot of marquee names hitting free agency, and two of the biggest on the board, Napheesa Collier and Jackie Young, may not leave their current teams.
This is going to be a consequential and tricky offseason for the Fever as they try to build a championship-caliber roster around Clark and Boston. Knee surgery for the latter doesn't help matters.
