'Week From Hell,' Eagles OT Opens Up amid Emotional Stretch, 3-Game Losing Streak
Last week was more than a little eventful for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Future Hall of Famer Lane Johnson retired; interior offensive lineman Cam Jurgens was traded to the Baltimore Ravens; the Eagles dealt with a number of injuries to key players; and the team had to travel to London to face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, losing on a walk-off field-goal after Nick Sirianni's debatable decision to not go for a touchback on the kick-off one play prior.

Raiders May Rest Jeanty
"My brain hurts," left tackle Jordan Mailata told reporters on Monday when asked if Philly's field-goal drive late in the fourth quarter, after a number of offensive struggles this season, provided any sense of a moral victory. "This week has been a week from hell for me. I don't even know the concept of a moral victory right now. I'm just trying to look internally to see how I contributed to this loss so I can correct it. We weren't good enough. We know that."
The Eagles are now 2-3 and mired in a three-game losing streak, largely down to an offense that ranks 29th in scoring (18.4 PPG) and 31st in yards (262.2 YPG). Injuries to a number of key players like Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert and Landon Dickerson at various points this season hasn't helped, and the loss of Johnson will be massive. But Mailata is holding out hope that the Birds can turn things around.
"I'm actually very excited and very high on the team right now," he said Monday. "Because I think defense picked us up, not just on the field but with everything we went through this week, they picked us up off the field. We did link arms and I think moving forward, we're linking arms even more now. There's no blame to be tossed around.ย Again, it's how can I do my 1/11th and how can I contribute to a win? Unfortunately, we lost so now it's how did my 1/11th contribute to the loss? And that's how we have to look at it. There are moments in the game that we all want back and we all contributed. It's tough."
