Kai Trump Undergoes Surgery, Latest on Donald Trump's Granddaughter's Rehab amid Miami Golf Season

Kai Trump, the granddaughter of U.S. President Donald Trump, indicated she could be sidelined from her freshman season on the Miami women's golf team for a "few months" after undergoing wrist surgery.

Trump said in a Wednesday post on Instagram her recent procedure which addressed an injury she suffered during her first tournament of the collegiate season in September.

"While I had hoped to avoid surgery, after talks with my family, coaches, and athletic training staff I know I made the best decision for my long-term health and my future in the game I love," Trump wrote.

"It's certainly not how I envisioned the next few months, but sometimes the journey takes an unexpected turn, and I'm choosing to embrace this one with patience, and a whole lot of determination."

Trump announced last January she had undergone "left wrist surgery to address injuries to the stabilizing tissues of my ECU tendon and damage to my triangular fibrocartilage complex."

She added the procedure was completed in the hope of allowing her "play golf pain free."

Trump made her debut for the Hurricanes nine months later during the 2026 Golfweek Fall Classic at Pawleys Island, South Carolina, where she tied for 102nd place out of 120 competitors.

She said in a social media post after the competition she "kind of had a re-injury" to her wrist in the tournament, per Golfweek's Kinsley Crowley.

"I hit the ground next to the cart path. Let's just say there must have been some cart path underneath that ground because it was very hard," Trump said, per Crowley.

Trump said she "felt like she tore it again" on the 10th hole at Pawleys Island, but that scans revealed she had just "a little sliver on my TFCC" she hoped to fix without surgery.

She later appeared in her second collegiate golf tournament earlier this month, when she finished 13th out of 14 competitors at the Golfweek Put Me In Coach Invitational in Muncie, Indiana.

Trump, 19, committed to Miami in August 2024 and made her LPGA debut in 2025. She has a projected $1.2 million NIL valuation, according to On3.
