Ashton Jeanty Injury Update, New NFL Rumors on Raiders RB's Status Ahead of Game vs. Bills
Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty has been off to a disappointing start to the 2026 season, and it sounds like he could need some time to rest.
ESPN's Dan Graziano explained that Jeanty has been hobbled by injuries throughout this year, so the Raiders will eventually give him a week off to recover.
"Jeanty has been bothered by an ankle injury since the preseason and is now dealing with a foot injury as well," Graizano stated. "He was questionable to play Sunday and only got cleared after a nine-minute pregame workout and discussion with team trainers and coaches. But keep an eye on this situation. The Raiders have internally discussed giving Jeanty a week off to heal at some point."
Jeanty was limited to 27 yards on 10 carries in Sunday's 45-17 blowout loss to the New England Patriots, though he added 50 receiving yards on three catches. He hasn't rushed for 60 yards or more since his 102-yard performance in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, and he hasn't reached the end zone since his two receiving touchdowns in that same game.
Through the first five weeks of the season, the Raiders rank 28th in the NFL with 82.0 rushing yards per game and have scored just two rushing touchdowns. Despite being slowed by his injuries, Jeanty is reportedly pushing to stay on the field.
"He does not want to take a week off and has pushed to play through the injuries," Graziano stated. "But the Raiders' bye isn't until Week 13, and there may come a week in the near future where they decide the best thing for Jeanty and for the team is to rest him."
If Jeanty is forced to sit out at any point, Graziano noted that the Raiders "have confidence in rookie running back Mike Washington Jr.'s ability to hold things down for a game or two with Dylan Laube backing him up, if it came to that."
The Raiders (3-2) will be hoping to avoid a three-game losing streak, but they will face a tough test in Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills (4-1).
