Saints Owner Calls Out HC Kellen Moore, GM Loomis Over 'Not Acceptable' 1-4 Start to NFL Season
New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson didn't mince words when discussing her dissatisfaction with how the 2026 campaign has started.
Amid a 1-4 start to the season, Benson called out head coach Kellen Moore and general manager Mickey Loomis, while also taking accountability for the team's shortcomings.
"Kellen Moore and his coaches are responsible for preparing our players to perform," Benson said at the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club Luncheon on Tuesday, per NOLA.com's Rod Walker and Matthew Paras. "Mickey Loomis and our football staff are responsible for building a roster capable of sustained success. Our players are responsible for their preparation and execution. I am responsible for holding this organization accountable."

Benson added that the lackluster start is "not acceptable" and said fans deserve better.
"That is not acceptable to me," Benson said. "And it falls short of what our fans truly deserve. I hear the frustration directed towards our team and our organization. It is not lost on me. Our fans invest their time and their hearts in the Saints. They are right to expect more than we have delivered."
The Saints took the Detroit Lions to overtime in Week 1 before upsetting the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2, which perhaps gave fans some hope that New Orleans could put together a surprising season.
The Saints have since lost to the Las Vegas Raiders, Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings.
New Orleans is still firmly in a rebuilding stage with Moore in his second season. Still, Benson would like to see some improvement from the Saints' coaching staff and front office.
