Josh Allen Discusses Message to James Cook After Overtime Fumble in Bills' Thrilling Win vs. Rams

Despite the Buffalo Bills' dramatic 37-34 overtime victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football, many are wondering whether they should be worried about star running back James Cook.

The Bills almost came up short against the Rams after Cook lost a fumble in the red zone in overtime, his second fumble of the game, costing them a scoring opportunity. Luckily for Buffalo, Los Angeles missed a potential game-winning field goal on the ensuing possession, giving the team a last chance at redemption.

After the win, Bills star quarterback Josh Allen was asked about his message to Cook (1:50 mark), and he made it clear that he has the utmost confidence in the ball-carrier, saying, "We don't gotta say nothing to him."

Cook has now fumbled the ball four times this season, losing two of them. His ball security became a glaring issue during the 2025 campaign, in which he fumbled six times in the regular season and once more in the playoffs. His 11 combined fumbles over the last two years are five more than any other running back in the NFL.

At 4-1, the Bills are expected to contend for a spot in the Super Bowl this season, but they will need Cook to avoid turnovers if they hope to finally break through.

Cook will try to have a better showing when Buffalo returns to action against the Las Vegas Raiders (3-2) in a Week 6 road matchup.
