Deebo Samuel Injury, Latest on 49ers WR's Timeline to Return After Exiting vs. Seahawks
A key member of the San Francisco 49ers' offense will have to miss some time after an injury on Sunday.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that wide receiver Deebo Samuel is expected to miss "at least a couple of weeks" following a hamstring injury suffered against the Seattle Seahawks.
Samuel exited Sunday's game in the second half after stepping awkwardly while trying to make a play. He fumbled in the process and was helped off the field and into the locker room.
The 49ers went on to beat the defending champions 32-29 to remain perfect on the season.
Samuel finished the game with two receptions for 21 yards, adding a pair of carries for four yards. The veteran receiver is up to 206 receiving yards, 78 rushing yards and three touchdowns so far in his first season back with San Francisco.
Samuel, 30, was traded to the Washington Commanders ahead of the 2025 campaign but returned to the Niners in free agency over the summer. The former All-Pro receiver is looking to help San Francisco in its quest for a Super Bowl, but he'll have to spend a few weeks on the sideline.
With Samuel set to miss some time, and plenty of other players still working their way back from injuries, the 49ers will need second-string receiver Jordan Watkins to step up. The second-year player has just two receptions for 60 yards in three games, but he'll surely get more targets in the coming weeks.
Luckily for San Francisco, veteran receiver Mike Evans has put together a strong year with 326 yards and three touchdowns, including a performance on Sunday that included 113 yards and a touchdown.
