Watch Sam Cosmi Kick Pylon in Trending Video After Commanders' Stunning Tie vs. Giants

Nobody on the Washington Commanders was particularly happy after the team botched the final play in overtime against the New York Giants, allowing the clock to run out and preventing a potential game-winning field-goal attempt.

Offensive lineman Sam Cosmi took his frustrations out on a goal-line pylon:

The Commanders had driven the ball to the New York Giants' 25-yard line with just 15 seconds left in overtime, well in range for a Drew Stevens field goal. But Washington chose to run another play, ostensibly for one of three reasonsโ€”to either get a bit closer, get the ball to Stevens' preferred hash or to run the clock as far down as possible to ensure the Giants didn't get the ball in the event of a miss.

But quarterback Jayden Daniels took a sack after an odd scramble and, with the team's receivers running down the field and the rest of Washington's players taking their time getting reset, the clock ran down to zero. It appeared that Daniels and his teammates thought they had a timeout remaining.

It was an unmitigated disaster, costing Washington a win and dropping its record to just 1-3-1 on the season.

"We've just got to communicate that, that's the whole thing," Daniels told reporters when asked if he was aware the team lacked a timeout. "It starts with me, communicating to the whole offense in the huddle. And I think everybody will say that from the top down."

"That last sequence... throw it out of bounds, clock it, give yourself a chance to kick," head coach Dan Quinn added. "We pride ourselves on those moments at the end of games. And after the first-down run, still trying to gain more for the kick, and the right call honestly is that we can go clock it early. Don't put ourselves in that spot. And that's my responsibility, nobody else's."

From the coaching staff to the players on the field, it was one of the worst clock-management situations you'll ever see, costing Washington a much-needed win.
