Detroit Lions star running back Jahmyr Gibbs has been a touchdown machine since he entered the NFL, and he has his eyes set on the history books.

After scoring a pair of touchdowns in Sunday's 45-24 win over the Arizona Cardinals, Gibbs told reporters that he's going after Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson's single-season record of 31 touchdowns.

"For sure, I'm trying to get that," Gibbs said (h/t Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk).

Gibbs now has seven rushing touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns through the first five weeks of the season. His 58 career touchdowns are the most before the age of 25 in NFL history, one more than Lions legend Barry Sanders.

Detroit has made Gibbs the focal point of its offense, as he leads the league with 132 touches. It's safe to say that he will have every opportunity to chase Tomlinson's single-season record this year.

Gibbs will continue his march toward rare air when the Lions (3-2) return to action in Week 6 against the NFC North rival Green Bay Packers (3-2).
