'Major Sickness Running Through' Saints' Locker Room Ahead of Vikings Game, New Report Reveals
The health of the New Orleans Saints reportedly could be a significant factor during Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Insider Nick Underhill reported "there's a major sickness running through the locker room" ahead of the contest. The report came less than two hours before the 1 p.m. ET kickoff time with New Orleans preparing for the game.
The Saints announced their list of inactives for the matchup, and it included six players and Zach Wilson listed as the third quarterback. Edge-rusher Anfernee Jennings, safety Mike Reid, linebacker Kaden Elliss, offensive guard Jeremiah Wright, and defensive linemen Vernon Broughton and Nathan Sheperd were all ruled out.
It should be noted none of them were listed with an illness in the injury report leading up to the game.
Instead, New Orleans' Friday injury report listed just defensive tackle Christen Miller as questionable because of "illness."
Miller was not on the team's inactives in the Sunday announcement.
The Saints are looking to get back on track following three straight losses, the most recent of which came in blowout fashion on Monday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons.
Offense hasn't been an issue with at least 24 points in each of the team's four games, but the defense is last in the league in points allowed per game (32.0).
Dealing with an undefeated Vikings team while also battling illness throughout the locker room likely won't make life much easier for the Saints even if they are at home for Sunday's game.
