Yankees Fan Reportedly Won't Be Punished Further After Interference on Volpe Fly Ball in ALDS
The New York Yankees fan that was ejected from the team's 4-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 3 of the ALDS for fan interference won't face any further punishment, according to Brendan Kuty of The Athletic.
With the Yankees trailing 4-2 and a runner on first base in the bottom of the sixth inning, Anthony Volpe hit a ball to deep left field that was initially ruled a game-tying home run.
A review determined that a fan reached over the wall and caught the ball, leading to the home run getting overturned to a double. Meanwhile, the fan was escorted out of Yankee Stadium.

New York still recorded one run on the play, but wasn't able to tie the contest after Spencer Jones struck out to end the inning.
A source told Kuty that the fan's actions "didn't rise nearly to the level" of the two Yankees fans that received an indefinite ban from all MLB stadiums after grabbing Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts' wrist and glove during the 2024 World Series.
With New York's Game 3 defeat at the hands of Tampa Bay on Wednesday night, the Bronx Bombers were swept out of the postseason.
