New Brian Thomas Jr. Trade Rumors on Jaguars' Stance Amid Periodic Calls From NFL Teams

The Jacksonville Jaguars have "shown no interest" in trading wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., per Tom Pelissero of The Ringer and Netflix.

"Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr.'s name has seemingly come up in trade rumors weekly since the start of last season," Pelissero wrote in the latest edition of The Sweep.

"But while there continue to be calls periodically, Jacksonville has shown no interest in trading the former first-round pick."

Thomas caught 87 passes for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns in 17 games as a rookie in 2024. However, he put up a 48/707/2 stat line in 14 games in 2025 and hasn't produced much through four games this season (9/105/1).

Thomas was the Jaguars' clear WR1 in 2024, but that changed when head coach Liam Coen took over in 2025. Parker Washington is the team's top wideout now with 16 receptions for 228 yards and two touchdowns through four games. Thomas is tied for third on the team with 15 targets with Jakobi Meyers. Tight end Brenton Strange is second with 18 targets.

In addition, Thomas has been off the field more than not thus far this year, playing 47.3 percent of the Jags' offensive snaps, per Pro Football Reference.

Thomas' talent and potential are clearly there, as evidenced by the rookie-year performance. He also just turned 24 years old and should have plenty of football ahead of him.

If Thomas isn't going to be a featured player in the Jags' offense—and it doesn't appear that's the case right now—then a trade could make sense. That said, Thomas' rookie contract doesn't run out until after the 2027 season, so the Jags could keep him on the roster for at least one more year, since his 2027 cap number ($4.7 million) is certainly manageable.

He also provides great depth if needed and could break out if given the opportunity. For now, he's on a 3-1 Jaguars team sitting in the driver's seat of the AFC South. Jacksonville will hope to move to 4-1 when it plays the Philadelphia Eagles in London on Sunday.
