Cam Jurgens Reportedly Took Ravens Physical at Eagles Facility Ahead of Surprise Trade

The Baltimore Ravens were determined to avoid any late surprises connected to their acquisition of veteran center Cam Jurgens.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Ravens conducted a physical on Jurgens at the Philadelphia Eagles' training facility before finalizing the trade. They had two doctors on hand to put him "through the type of physical" that veteran edge-rusher Maxx Crosby didn't get before his trade to Baltimore fell apart this past offseason.

Tom Pelissero of The Ringer provided more insight and said the Ravens "got a good look at Jurgens as part of the physical and felt confident about his future."

Baltimore made waves by dealing away a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-rounder in return for the interior lineman.

General manager Eric DeCosta wasn't going to have a repeat of the Crosby saga. The Ravens had a blockbuster trade for the five-time Pro Bowler all lined up before something in his physical reportedly scared them off.

Jurgens experienced back trouble during the 2025 season and underwent a stem cell procedure to heal up. He started in Philly's first four games before suffering a concussion that will delay his Baltimore debut.

According to Pelissero, the Ravens' aggressive play speaks for itself. They identified center as a position of need and inquired on other targets before focusing on Jurgens. They also believe his four-year, $68 million contract could represent great value if he proves effective at center.

Three-time Pro Bowler Tyler Linderbaum left Baltimore this spring and reset the market by getting $27 million annually from the Las Vegas Raiders.

As an asset play, effectively swapping Linderbaum for Jurgens could work out nicely.

Maybe the team will get to see its new anchor along the line in action in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns.
