The Dream jumped out to an early lead at Barclays Center in large part thanks to Reese, who drained a pair of three-pointers while recording 10 points in a postseason quarter for the first time in her WNBA career (h/t ESPN's Alexa Philippou).
Reese's hot start helped the Dream hold a seven-point lead after 10 minutes, but the visitors fell behind after getting outscored 50-41 over the next two quarters.
Tensions rose as Reese shared heated exchanges with Ionescu and Jonquel Jones late in the first half.
The Liberty went into the fourth quarter with a two-point lead thanks in part to a trio of three-pointers by Ionescu.
Ionsecu helped her team pull further ahead by splashing her fourth of the night early in the fourth quarter. That allowed Ionescu to pass Kara Lawson for 11th on the WNBA's postseason three-pointer leaderboard, per ClutchPoints.
The Liberty were unable to hold on to that advantage long enough to extend their postseason.
Rhyne Howard and Jordin Canada led the Dream on a 7-0 run to take back the lead with under five minutes remaining in the fourth. Atlanta then held onto the advantage to close out the elimination win.
The Liberty made history by sweeping the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx from the first round of the 2026 playoffs.
The 2024 champions will now head home while the Dream prepare to play for what could be the franchise's first WNBA championship against either the Golden State Valkyries or the Las Vegas Aces.
The Valkyries hold a 2-0 lead in their own semifinal series, in which the Aces are playing to extend their postseason Friday in Las Vegas.
