Cowboys' Schottenheimer Talks Potential Coaching Staff Changes, Says He'll 'Look at Everything'
Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer discussed possible changes to the team's coaching staff on Friday.
"I'm going to look at everything," Schottenheimer said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. "I'll spend countless hours trying to figure it out and getting a chance to step back, look at these five games, and see what we need to improve."
He also detailed his plan for the weekend after the Cowboys suffered a 24-16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night.

Predicting NFL's Next Coaching Moves 🔮
"This weekend is going to be a process," Schottenheimer said, per Machota. "We're going to go through the process. We're going to figure it out. We're going to watch the tape. We're going to look at the stats. We're going to look at everything and we're going to make some decisions that we believe will give us the best chance to pick back up and play well next week."
With the loss to Tampa Bay, Dallas fell to 2-3 to start the 2026 season.
The defeat was particularly disappointing considering the Buccaneers entered the game with an 0-4 record and were starting backup quarterback Jalon Daniels, an undrafted rookie.
During Daniels' first career start against the Green Bay Packers in Week 4, Tampa Bay only mustered 14 points and 275 total yards.
In his second start on Thursday, the Buccaneers amassed 419 yards to go along with their 24 points. Daniels finished 19-of-25 for 189 yards and one touchdown.
After consecutive seven-win seasons in 2024 and 2025, the Cowboys looked to establish themselves as a contender in the NFC East this year.
Instead, Dallas' defense has remained an issue. The Cowboys are giving up 27.2 points and 395.4 yards per game through five weeks.
While Dallas' offense has been largely productive, the unit has become increasingly one-dimensional. Schottenheimer's squad owns the NFL's No. 28 rushing attack, averaging a mere 81.6 yards per game on the ground.
If the Cowboys can't turn their season around quickly, coaching changes could be on the horizon.
